Lady Gaga Racks Up More Awards: Billboard’s Artist of the Year

And the awards and honors just keep pouring in for Lady Gaga. It’s truly has been the year of the Gaga, as the pop singer is just named as Billboard’s magazine Artist of the Year.

This recognition by Billboard magazine is no mean feat. This makes Lady Gaga as only the seventh woman to ever grace the same honor.

Gaga’s rise to the top of the Billboard chart was propelled by her two albums – The Fame and then the EP The Fame Monster. The two ended up at number 4 and 13 – respectively on the magazine’s year end chart. Meanwhile, she racked up four top 10 singles in 2010.

Responding to the honor from Billboard magazine and the recent6 nominations she got for the Grammys, Lady Gaga said that it’s a true testament to artistic freedom.

Past female winners of the Billboard’s Artist of the Year award include Taylor Swift, LeAnn Rimes, Alanis Morissette, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Madonna.
