The show, which is anchored by Brooke Anderson and AJ Hammer, handed the award to Lady Gaga due to the fact that her name alone evokes a sense of being provocative. Not only that, the oft-outrageously dressed singer was also the first person to have over than 1 billion views on video sharing website YouTube, as well as 6 million followers on her Twitter account.
Apart from that, Lady Gaga has also been advocating the movement to end bullying via her video campaigns. To top it off, she’s a best-selling artist with multiple platinum albums under her belt.
Past winners of the provocative celebrity of the year include Britney Spears, which won it back-to-back in 2006 and 2007 – and politician Sarah Palin in 2008.
